Carol reads our passage of scripture today. It is taken from the letter to the Colossians ch 4 ver 7 - 13. This weeks Preacher is Colin and he contiues in our series in Colossians. Contrary to what many think, Paul was not the dour, lonely pioneer, bravely trudging over the Taurus mountains in order to accomplish his mission. His letters reveal a network of friends and fellow-workers without whom he could never have accomplished what he did.
The final verses of his letter to the Colossians reveal an unexpected mix of Jew and Gentile, of admired and rejected, of rich and poor but these friendships were anchored in Christ for it is he who builds bridges which cross the divide of human prejudices. These friendships were developed through shared experiences and cemented through the storms of life.
May God grant us the wisdom and grace to forgive as Paul forgave, to leave prejudice behind and to thank Him for our Christian friends, members of the same body of believers.
